[ILUG] checking whether the C compiler (gcc ) works... no

I have a small problem that maybe someone could help me with.
I get this when I am trying to install programs.

loading cache ./config.cache
checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C compiler (gcc  ) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler
cannot create
executables.

# gcc --version
2.7.2.1

kernel 2.0.30

I installed gcc using Glint last night. Do I need to do anything else to
make it
function properly?

Also I have been checking out the corel site, still no sign of WP8.
