About 17-18 people attended the third meeting of the Irish Linux Users Group.

  • The management of the ILUG was discussed, with 3-4 roles required:
    1. Chairman
      Peter Corcoran - Galway
    2. Treasurer
      Stephen Mulcahy - Galway
    3. Press/Publicity
      Ken - Dublin, John - Galway
    4. Secretary/Organisation
      Peter - Galway, Caolan - Limerick, Ken (prov.) - Dublin
    The roles of chairman and secretarial & organisation could be undertaken by the one person.
    An 'open' structure of management was also discussed.
  • Joe Desbonnet mentioned moving/integrating GLUG (Galway LUG) closer to ILUG.
  • The aims of the ILUG were discussed and decided:
    1. Facilitate communication between users.
    2. Promote Linux
    3. Accommodate undertaking of Linux related projects
    4. Grassroots - helping people on the technical issues of using Linux
  • PR Issue - decided that a mailing list would be of use.
