:: Community :: Minutes :: Minutes of 17/07/1999 Dublin Meeting

Preamble.
Realising this isn't a F2F, that said, this stuff has to be discussed sometime and can be run past people on the ilug mailing list.

Regional.
If groups want to secceed (seperate from the ILUG) they can get their own server. From this point of view CLUG is a part of ILUG.

Status of ILUG.
Discussed status of ILUG (incorporation or a registered not for profit organisation, nominate committee, non individual membership, attendance at tradeshows...) to be discussed on the list. Maybe have a steering committee of perhaps 7 people.
How to define membership, mailing list to discuss society admin. formalise POTDs? Thomas Bridge will look into having a constitution - probably amended version of one from Trinity CSC.
This was discussed so that we would know what will happen to the ILUG money should anything unfortunate happen to Colm Buckley (the ILUG money is in an account under his name and lugh, the computer that the linux.ie services run on is his).

Money.
£3,240, what to do with it, we decided to acquire hardware for backup, with a ceiling of £500. If the harddrive containing the website and mailing list archives was to become corrupt ILUG would have to start again from scratch, and nobody in his|her right mind should want to do that!

SAGE-WISE.
Mike Knell (mpk@tuatha.org) talked about SAGE. promotion of syadmin as a profession!
