Donncha O Caoimh donncha at linux.ie
Sun Nov 14 17:38:06 GMT 1999

I did a bit of work on the goldmine app Donnchadh mentioned yesterday.

I now have a web based app that:
Multiple users can login. Each user has a seperate pop account.
Can check a pop server for new mail. The pop server definition is taken
from a database.
Email is printed to the web browser "as is".
Like Hotmail, you can "Select All mail" and do an action on it. At the
moment, this only displays all the selected emails, but in the future it
should be used for inserting new email addresses into the DB. Yeah, I
grabbed the Javascript code from hotmail.com, It's trivial code.

No source code yet. It's ugly and doesn't install very easily. Of
course, part of the final install process should be installing
Apache/PHP/IMAP/MySQL from source with a few key clicks..

Need a name. I'm working in a "nim" directory, stands for Networked
Information Manager but that's not exactly very descriptive, and not
great for marketing!

Want to help? Learn about PHP/MySQL and webserver coding. If you use
groupware apps like Goldmine your input would be invaluable. Know
something about designing a web based UI?
I want to use frames and havascript for this one. Web sites should be
content orientated but web apps have to offer functionality, and
besides, on a LAN most people will use the same browser.

Donncha.
