I hereby declare myself the person among us with the greatest ratio of
good luck to kind of ok luck
I spent hours this evening trying to get RedHat 6 to install onto a
486dx100 with one 400mb HD and one 100MB hd and 16Mb of ram (I'm poor
ok?)
after finally having to take out the C/C++ compilers (which I really
need) it spent hours installing
didn't detect my mouse, didn't detect my ethernet card
rebooted...failed one or two test but thankfully passed the rest
and as I speak it has spent the last 1/4 of an hur booting X
hmmm
I think Win95 is going back on that machine
and I'll once again be left without a linux machine
I have an AMD586 133mhz machine with an 850mb had and 16mb's of ram that
might run linux better
this is the nth installation that I have tried and either failed because
of incompatible hardware or given up on because of not-good-enough
hardware
I started doing this when slackware was on version 4
I still haven't got a linux machine up long enough to learn anything
significant
!!!!!!!!!!!!!
kill me now
I'm sure none of you wanted to read that
but I needed to vent myself somewhere
have sympathy ok?
thanks
:)
Bob
