[CLUG] we're all going to LAID!

[CLUG] we're all going to LAID!

I was going to send this to the 28 email addresses I have for people who
expressed an interest in coming to LAID on November 6th but I think this
is the best way of reaching everyone. Apologies to everyone else.

Accomodation is as follows:
Isaacs Hostel on Mc Curtain St. have 2 rooms/dorms, one will sleep 14,
the other 16 people.
Cost per person, per night is £6.95 and I presume at least some of you
will be staying Friday night and Saturday night. There's a £10
refundable deposit no matter how long you stay and the deposit can be
used when you're paying up.

So far 28 people mail me I know some of you are bringing others with
you.
Get back to me as soon as possible with numbers so we can arrange extra
bedding if necessary.

What'll happen on the day?

We'll start kinda early, around 10am with business talk(s) and maybe a
panel for people to ask questions relating to the business use of Linux.
Depends on how many business people we get to the event.

Following that there'll be a beginners section where we'll install Linux
on a
box as well as explaining how to start out using Linux, and common
problems
encountered.

Then the hackers section. Not 100% sure what will happen here. I'll
certainly
be giving a talk on using databases to create dynamic web sites, Kenn
Humborg
will give a short talk on using UUCP to deliver mail to your home,
John Looney will give a talk on Gnome, and Alan Cox will talk about the
upcoming 2.4 Kernel. Obviously we'll keep him there another hour asking
him questions..

Afterwards down to a pub somewhere for the night and other Saturday
night activities. Hopefully with semi/free food!

For those speakers who have to travel to Cork.
Indigo can cover your travel and accomodation costs but they need to
know now
how much that will be. Can each speaker mail me the following:
Where you're from.
Mode of travel and how much is a return ticket. Not sure about
compensating
for petrol/miles.
How many nights you'll stay in Cork (Friday and Saturday?)
The title of your talk. Expected length.

We'll see about getting tshirts. If anyone has contacts in the business
don't
keep it a secret!

Tell your employers! Tell them to come!

Donncha.
