[CLUG] [OT]installing Linux Vs NT

[CLUG] [OT]installing Linux Vs NT

I don't think we'll have a problem at LAID, at least compared to the
trouble installing NT.

A guy here just spent the day installing it and finally got on the
network using IE2.0 which comes with NT. He went to www.microsoft.com
using that old browser only to find that the web site isn't configured
properly. You _need_ a version 3 browser or at least something that
plays nicely with virtualhosts. (Same mis-configuration could appear
with Apache so it's not an IIS only oversight)

All he's getting up on his screen is an "Access denied." and a message
explaining you can't list virtual directories.

Catch-22 is that you need SP3 to install IE3 as far as he knows, but he
can't download SP3!

(There are obvious easy ways out of this.. this is just a rant :)

Donncha.
