LAID, Linux Awareness in Ireland Day will happen on the 6th of November
in Cork City.
It will be held in Boole 3 of University College Cork, where we have
access to a projector and PCPro will donate a machine running Linux and
StarOffice, MagicPoint (whatever else people may require) to display
slides/graphics/animations during talks.
Boole 3 is the largest lecture theatre in the college. I'm not sure how
many people it can accomodate but I'd guess it's "a lot"!
11 people have volunteered to speak at LAID, and I've requested people
to mail me with confirmation emails that they can speak. So far, the
response has been pityful. I'm aiming for at least 5 speakers, maybe 6.
If any of you still have an interest in speaking mail me with details!
(phone number, title of talk)
We're hoping and optimistic that some of the expense of travelling to
Cork and staying here can be covered for speakers at LAID. I'm waiting
on a return email/phone call on that.
Alan Cox has been invited over, and flights and accomodation just have
to be booked. Waiting for him to reply with a topic for his talk.
Would people be interested in a panel discussion? If we had Alan Cox and
a few of the ILUG people on the panel to answer questions/debate topics
it should be interesting.
There isn't a webpage as yet. It's high on my list of TODO things.
I'm afraid I won't be around after 11am as I'll be out of the office
for a few hours. Mobile will more than likely be turned off too. I
should be back before close of business though.
Donncha.
