I'm trying to resurrect an old IBM 486 which has a 1994 Mitsumi
double-speed CD-ROM drive. It's connected to an otherwise unidentified
Mitsumi card in the box labelled "CD-ROM DRIVE 16BIT I/F CARD
74-1881A" via a standard-looking IDE ribbon and a fairly
normal-looking audio lead. The card has two Phono sockets on the
outside panel, one red, one white, labelled L and R, which are
obviously audio outputs, but it's not obviously any kind of standard
sound card.
RH 5.2 won't recognise the CD drive at all, and none of the probe
settings, especially the Mitsumi ones, seem to do anything. Has anyone
seen anything like this before?
