I've used apps built with XForms before, and it is far from my toolkit of
choice, speaking as a user. (And an abuser.)
Pan is quite handy-looking and developing fast. It's a GNOME app, so
GNOME-haters will most likely wish to avoid it. The threading works quite
well. It is said to be like Free Agent, but since I have never seen Free
Agent, I cannot comment. I have yet to use Pan heavily, and I probably
never will, since I'm a Gnus junkie.
If you like Emacs, (use 'gnus).
