On-and-off topic - I'm just about to order a new rig, and hi-speed also (sorry).
Eircon are trying to sell me an ISDN modem, but I reckon it'll be cheaper if I
get one preinstalled in the new machine. Any idea? The Eircon one - "the best
value currently available in Ireland" - is £99 inc.
Also, how about networking - the new machine will have a NIC, but I'm worried
I'll have problems with my LAN. What I want to do is leave the new machine with
w98 for a while (sorry), and network that to this, which will be running RHL7.0;
and a powerbook. Any problems there?
Finally, I want to run a fax and phone off the ISDN line as well as the Internet
connection - do I need any other equipment there?
Oh, and one - gah, two more things: 1) what isps support isdn; and 2) is the
standard modem no good anymore?
Gods, I wish I knew more about hardware...
