True, but I've been bashing WAP since it reared its ugly head. The Leader of the
Pack! Rummm! Rummmm!

I'm not saying it's not a clever idea, and it has its uses, particularly for
corporates, but trying to push it on Joe Pubic [sic, PTerry] is IMHO exactly the
same as the .tv "gTLD" - it's a scam. It's simply playing on the ignorance of
the Lesser-Spotted-Lesser-Informed-Technophile. The thing that really gets my
goat though, is all the software companies pushing "WAP Servers" and "M-Commerce
Servers" out the door in front of them, preaching "innvotation" and "new
technology". Rubbish. I could run WAP on Apache in a matter of minutes, and if I
wanted to tune it particularly for WAP, well, I've got the source, haven't I? I
dunno, I guess an awful lot of "tech" is a con, and I'm just a sceptical old
moaner...

It might have its day, but not if iMode/GPRS gets there first. And the chances
of that have been bettered too, since NoMoCo(?) have just announced that it's
users will be able to roam in Europe and the US in Q3 next year, using, guess
what? GPRS! Roll on iMode, say I.

That's your philosophical lot for today. You're welcome.
