The X client is only 256 col anyway, as I couldn't find a setting for
it which it would support at more than 8bits. Really stupid,
considering it's a brand new 450MHz Dell.
The users' X server is running on a 2-year-old 200MHz PC with a
reasonable 1024x768 screen, probably set to Hi-Color.
Interesting concept that X will crash your app if the colour depth
doesn't match the server's. An error message would seem to be a more
appropriate response...:-)
