There's a very good pdf file at http://pages.infinit.net/lotus1/ which
describes setting up Linux as a server.
It covers, among other things, Sendmail, ldap, ssl, compiling the
kernel, backups, security.
I just had a quick look at it and it could be a good place to start if
you want to know about the above.
Use xpdf to display it.
xpdf in RH6 complains but displays it, xpdf in RH6.1 doesn't complain.
