[CLUG] laptops

I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get a new laptop. 
Any recommendations/derecommendations? Needs to do
the impossible: fast, big mem, big disk, big screen, low cost :-)
But it has to run Linux, and that means the manufacturer must
support the hardware (ie tell me what it is).
