You should try Mandrake 7 - a superb installation routine, if sometimes a
little patronising ie. "are you really sure you want to do an expert
install" "really really really sure" type stuff. But for newbies using its
standard install - it is easier to understand than Win98. The only hairy
part, for a novice, is making the disk partitions and mount points - but
even this has an auto choose option that chooses them for you..
