 The committee have decided that we should run this by you all, just in
case people have problems with an ILUG event run for profit by someone
else, in conjunction with ILUG.

 I was thinking of getting helpers (people to help run the event, and
man
an ILUG stand) free entry + tshirt + food. However, chances are everyone
would have to pay a few quid to get in. It would be run properly though,
and whats more would get advertised to business better.

 So, if you have problems with the way this is going, or suggestions, do
tell. Loads of "I think it's great" should be avoided, maybe ;)

Hi Everyone,

I have had a conversation with IDG US (LinuxWorld organisers) they
would licence the event to Scope Communications on a percentage of
revenue basis.
If you guys are interested we would take the licence and ramp the day
into a full blown LinuxWorld over the coming years.

I would need to know if you thought it was a good idea for ILUG and
if so would we be able to count on your support. In return for your
support we would feature the ILUG in all media as a supporter/sponsor.

Basically what it means for ILUG is:
* One single annual event
* National coverage
* International association
* Full time organisers of the event
* Full time sponsor seekers (with international links)
* Control would rest with Scope with input form ILUG
* Input and direction on the conference and speakers from ILUG
* IDG help with marketing and branding and speaker lists
* Work load for ILUG would be minimal - seminar speaker and general
direction input
* Liability for all costs would rest with Scope

On the venue side we need to wait for the Mansion option to be offered
to us.

On the sponsors and exhibitor side, I reckon we have all the contacts
and will be able to deliver. If we go for this I would suggest our
sales team could make or close any approaches. Under a Linux World
arrangement we would have to underwrite any shortfall.

Either way it's your call. I would be glad to meet with or
teleconference if required.

Regards

Mark
