[Apologies to the people who have already received this.]
I notice a few LUG's metioned on the EuroLinux sponsors page:
Maybe someone Important in CLUG should send a logo and/or statement on behalf of
the CLUGgers. Dave, do you want to do the logo for the Rebel LUG? :)

>>> Dear Sir or Madame,
>> Thank you very much for signing the EuroLinux petition for a Software
> Patent Free Europe. However, about 50.000 signatures is not enough yet.
> EuroLinux needs official support from your company to increase its
> lobbying efficiency.
>> The European Patent Convention is set to be revised at the end November
> 2000. Thanks to your signature and thanks to the EuroLinux petition,
> European governments are now wondering if they should really
> legalise software patents. They now understand that software patents
> stiffle innovation. However the administration council of the European
> Patent Office still plans to get software patents legalised and extended
> to "business methods with a technical effect" such as the famous
> "one-click" patent and similar ecommerce methods. The European Patent
> Office also tries to convince governments that the EuroLinux Alliance
> has no support from commercial companies.
>> Therefore, European governments are quite afraid to oppose the plans of
> the European Patent Office, unless they can clearly understand that
> there is strong opposition from European companies. EuroLinux is
> currently supported by more than 70 companies. It has collected public
> statements from about 30 companies and politicians. We need more.
> We need yours.
>> In order not to let the European Patent Office implement its plans, the
> EuroLinux Alliance of software publishers and non profit organisations
> kindly requests your moral sponsorship to support its lobbying action in
> favour of software innovation in Europe.
>> If you agree, please send your company logo to petition at eurolinux.org so
> that we can make your company appear in the sponsors page
>http://petition.eurolinux.org/sponsors> Please also send a public statement from your company to
>petition at eurolinux.org so that we can make it appear in our statements
>http://petition.eurolinux.org/statements>> Best regards,
>> EuroLinux Alliance.
>> PS. This email is sent automatically. Please excuse us for sending it if
> you are already officially supporting the EuroLinux Petition.
