But is case of open source development of the most of the software is done
not by the company that makes distribution, but by the independant groups of
people. Thus the only thing that you are really testing for bugs is the set
of scripts that assists the installation process. But when you have hundreds
of distros, beta testing of same type of scripts but from different vendors
just distracts people from testing real programs - like KDE. The point here
is that amount of code, related to installation of the disro is far less than
amount of code for different applications and probably can be tested in the
other way.
Anyway with frequent releases of betas most of the people just have no time
renew their installation
