> Btw another interesting snippet on electricnews.net with regards to
> how esat or eircom wont be offering adsl
>http://www.electricnews.net/news.html?code=1173010>I had to have this logic pointed out to me: LLU isn't currently available, so
the current DSL trials are for bitstream access, where Eircom still owns the
lines. Which of course no-one wants. And it's a waste of time and effort
ploughing resources into bitstream, when co-lo and virtual co-lo are on the way.
So everyone pulled out of bitstream LLU, giving people like ENN - who should
know better - the idea that DSL was dead in the water in Ireland. Which of
course it is, at least for the moment.
Doyler needs to get the finger out and slap Eircom's little handies. They're
stalling on LLU - LLU is far more important than DSL alone at the moment - and
the ODTR aren't hard enough on them for it. What's worse however, is that the
ODTR are making all the mistakes Oftel made with BT, and that's just stupid. She
should be looking across the water, looking at the dirty tactics BT are using on
the British people, and pre-empting them over here. And the same goes for
Deutsche, France Telecom, and Verizon/Bell. It's not as if there isn't history
to be learned from...
And finally, who gives a flying chuff what ENN writes? I removed them from my
bookmarks last week when four - count 'em - articles in one day were factually
incorrect and/or blatantly copied and pasted from elsewhere in the net / hard
copy. It's rubbish. Stick with Wired and The Reg folks, they mightn't be local
but at least they can bloody well write.
