Hi Joe,
I would suggest lurking on the list or other lists like ILUG for a while
and get a feel for how people post, what they say, and especially if
you're looking for help or information, how they phrase their questions
so that others are encouraged to reply in a constructive manner.
The ILUG mailing list[0] page has a link to an "Internet ettiquette"[1]
which might be worth reading.
In general, treat people on the list as you would anyone you meet
socially, using a bit of cop-on when necessary.
