There's reasonably good support for printers in Linux. Do a search via
google and you'll find plenty of info. The printing HOWTO may link to a
driver page too. You might want to ring up Maddens and other shops to
find out what printers they have to compare with the list.
Last printer I bought was an Epson, but it was for a Win98 machine. Ink
refills for Epson printers are a bit cheaper than HP ones, although I'm
not sure about the cost per page.. *shrug*
