[CLUG] a "coders" distrib ?

[CLUG] a "coders" distrib ?

hi,

seeing my current distrib (rh5.2) growing steadily older, i've decided i
need to upgrade :)

i'm looking for reccomendations of which distro to get based on the
following requirements:

- lots of libs and sources. (for coding)
- small+speedy. (for old hardware)
- never use x. (hate mice)
- fairly generic hardware

so is there any distribs ye think might be better suited to me than
others, or would i be just as well to get the latest redhat?

also is it still slackware that holds the mythical "hackers distro" title?
:)

ok, thanks for any help,
vincent foley
.
