Here in France we have ADSL with the same rates (512kbits down, 128 up)
at 45 Euros per month without download or upload limit. the modem costs
150 Euros and no instalation fees. It is supposed to work under linux (a
french hacker had made it work).
The modem is an Alcatel speedtouch USB (in USB, it uses the PPP over ATM
encapsulated in USB)
