Comp sci dept in ucc use the form fist name initial, second name initial, o
or m if there's an o or a mc in the name, then last name initial, followed
by 1 (or a higher number if someone already has the previous combination).
eg: my username is ktor1. We then have mail aliases- mine being
kevin.oriordan. Maybe that might be a good way to go.
