I'm looking into setting up a mail server on a Linux system and I want
to be able to manage mail accounts without using the password file.
I.e. I want each user to be able to authenticate to the IMAP server and
the SMTP server with a username/password pair without giving them an
account on the system.
I had a brief look at courier and it seems to fit the bill, but I'm
nervous about using it as I have no experience with it. Ideally I'd
like to be able to plug open ldap or mysql in behind exim or postfix.
Does anyone here have experience with this, and if so I'd appreciate and
recommendations or warnings you might have.
