[CLUG] Wireless bridge question

[CLUG] Wireless bridge question

Daniel O'Regan daniel.oregan at ucc.ie

Hello all.

Quick question (hopefully).

If I have 2 points A and B

(Fixed font on guys)

       A                                      B
  ============                          ==============

And I want to provide wireless LAN to both points like so

       A                                      B
  ============                          ==============
  <-----------AP A----------->
                           <-----------AP B----------->

Is is possible to get traffic to be passed from one AP to the other by
giving A,B and a new C the same ESSID, and placing C in open bridge
mode like so?

       A                                      B
  ============                          ==============
  <-----------AP A----------->
                           <-----------AP B----------->
              <-----------AP C----------->

So that C is within range of both AP?

Essentially I can't run a wire from AP A to AP B and will be doing this
wirelessly. I know that this question might be better aimed at the WAN
group but since most of the technical people are on this list anyway...

Any questions/clarification on above welcomed as are obviously any solutions!!

Daniel
