ndiswrapper, yuck.  Used it myself for a while before the Intel ipw2100 
drivers became usable, but you lose monitor mode etc.  Have you grabbed 
the latest ipw2200 drivers and given them a go?  What exactly happens 
(or doesn't happen)?
