i can see now why Ruairi said "ndiswrapper yuck"  - i changed a
parameter in my ifcfg-wlan0 file and i got a kernel panic -i had
changed the network type from "Managed" to "Ad-Hoc"

yikes!


out with the knoppix cd so....
