Well being grumpy was mostly joking. But it is very very 
annoying, I am on a lot of lists, nearly all of which have had
threads about gmail invites. I am sure a lot of others
have had the same experience.

There have been a number of posts (on ilug and other lists)
with people who have unlimited invites inviting others,
to prevent this.
