[CLUG] HP SCSI tape drive

[CLUG] HP SCSI tape drive

peter peter at silmaril.ie

I just added a HP DAT tape drive to an FC2 Gateway PC, using an Adaptec card.
The boot-time SCSI BIOS found the drive OK, but once the system was up, tar
cvf /dev/st0 --exclude proc . says tar: /dev/st0: Cannot open: No such device
or address. dmesg reports as below.

What have I missed? I've added similar HP DAT drives to similar machines (DELLs,
ComPaqs, PC-Pros, etc) using similar Adaptec cards in the past, and RH6/7/8/9
has always recognised them immediately.
