[CLUG] scsi under fc3

[CLUG] scsi under fc3

Peter Flynn peter at silmaril.ie

Is there any good reason why FC3 would fail to recognize a HP SCSI
DAT tape drive (attached to an Adaptec card) that has been
recognised automatically and without fail by every earlier version
(RH5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and FC1 and FC2)? Isapnp recognises the card OK
but FC3 installs without creating any /dev/st* devices.

What exact program is it that decides which device nodes in /dev
should be copied at install time? On an RH9 system with the same
drive and the same card, RH9 created
crw-rw---- 1 root disk 9, 0 Jan 30 2003 /dev/st0

What is it with these people? They seem to take a perverse delight
in removing from each successive version the very features that
caused me to latch onto RH/FC in the first place. WTF?
