Sorry, I was in a hurry when I was writing that. Specifically, the problem
is that the sound system doesn't seem to load on boot, so I have to delete
and reload the configuration (in YaST, this is in SuSE 9.2) on every boot.
The SuSE KB has a solution to this, but it didn't work.
