you've not mentioned where your broadband modem is going to plug into
- unless its one of those combo jobs - adsl , router, wireless with a
firewall?
or is it just an ADSL modem you are being supplied with?
probably preaching to the converted here, but plugging your ADSL into
a Windows machine is a big no no... better off either getting one of
those combo boxes with a firewall built in, or better still , get a
cheap desktop PC, with the distro of your choice on it + firewall
installed and route your desktop and laptop through that. Just do the
usual hardening on your front facing Linux box (usual stuff - switch
off ftp, telnet , outgoing ports to bare minimum, make sure it's got
the latest security patches installed etc...)
