[CLUG] software patents

[CLUG] software patents

Peter Flynn peter at silmaril.ie
Tue Mar 22 20:11:37 GMT 2005

I wrote to all three MEPs (Coveney, Crowley, and Sinnott) about
software patents. Only Sinnott replied, saying she understood and
would be voting against the move because of the problems it would
cause the Irish software industry.

I take the non-response from the other two to mean that they are
in favour of software patents (or at least have been gulled into
believing the marketing spin from the big players), and should
therefore be regarded as hostile to the Irish software industry.
