When I run /etc/init.d/haldaemon start
I get :-
Starting HAL daemon:                                       [FAILED]

AND:
/usr/sbin/hald --verbose=yes
12:20:52.414 [I] hald.c:495: hal 0.5.2
12:20:52.415 [I] hald.c:497: Will daemonize
12:20:52.415 [I] hald.c:507: Becoming a daemon
