That's very odd indeed.

[root at box ~]# which dbus-daemon-1
/usr/bin/dbus-daemon-1

[root at box ~]# rpm -q --whatprovides /usr/bin/dbus-daemon-1
dbus-0.22-12.EL.5

(I'm on RHEL4, so my versions will be different to yours)

It almost sounds like your missing the basic dbus package (RPM). But you
clearly have files which belong to ancillary packages to that, which
should register a dependency, so I don't see how it could be missing.
Hrmm. Can you...

rpm -qva | grep -i dbus

...and show us what's installed?
