Back when I worked in IOL, we used to name out NetApps after kitchen
appliances ending in "er". This originates from one of the first filers,
which looked much like a 1950s toaster. Others then included blender,
cooker etc etc
These days, my laptops tend to be named in-line with their task. Currently
nomad, sherpa and rambler.
Alas for work, with about 65 offices globally, server naming tends to be a
little more standardized and intuitively named.
