Thanks very much. I haven't reported it yet -- I was hoping to find a 
solution first. But I doubt if they would care much about supporting it 
if (as they claim) the new xorg cannot support the older drivers. Which 
is a pity, as Ubuntu was always the best at installing on older hardware.
