I have often found that when installing / reinstalling RedHat it is almost
always necessary to do a "bad block check" and reformat of the partition
and then restore data files from backup. I don't know why that is, it just
seems ro happen. This has happened _every_ time 4.1 -> 5.0 5.0->5.1
5.1->5.2. BTW, it seems to happen with Debian 2.0 as well...
