[ILUG] capabilities...

[ILUG] capabilities...

Anyone following the kernel mail list at the moment ?

It seems there is a lot of work to implement "capabilities" (there is a
link off the kernel page off http://www.lwn.net) in Linux. This would mean
that instead of setting the uid bit on a process, you could say "This
program can be run by the "mail" user, and will have access to port 25" or
something.

They are talking about eventually getting rid of the root user, almost
completely, eventually.

Wow. Linux would never be the same...
