Thats a great suggestion.  IMHO using it for socialising is a waste.   Sometime
in the future it'll come in very useful.   Having a 'fund' is no bad thing. 
Since you're kind enough not to charge membership fees then its a great
advantage to have a nice little bunch of money that you can draw on when you
need it.
