[ILUG] Email Forwarding using virtusertable

[ILUG] Email Forwarding using virtusertable

Hi

We've got a Redhat Linux 5.2 Email Server, which works fine for both sending
and receiving email for local accounts.

However, we have been unable to get email forwarding working. i.e. we try
doing something like :

@somedomain.com     forwardto at anotherdomain.com

In our virtusertable

The strange thing is that this forwarding works fine where the target
address is hosted on the same box - i.e. where anotherdomain.com appears in
our sendmail.cw file, but gets bounced if you're trying to forward to a
domain hosted elsewhere.

I'm pretty confident the virtusertable is working properly, and we've done
all the usual stuff like uncommenting its usage in sendmail.cf.

One other thing....

We can only seem to compile virtusertable doing :

makemap -v hash virtusertable.dbm < virtusertable

if you try and use dbm (as most literature tells you to) rather than hash,
it wont have it.... any obvious reasons for this ???

Many Thanks for any help you can offer
