I have to agree with both Colm and the article.

Another list that I'm on changed the behaviour of the reply-to option
just this morning. 
It was for the exact reason given by Colm earlier in this debate, that
people were accidentally replying to the list with private mail.
(Nothing too embarrassing, but it was very close on one occasion!) 
As he said; better mail for the list go to one person, than mail for one
person go to the list.
