[ILUG] V Sllloooooow connection to ISP

Hi,
my connection to my ISP (from home) has become ludicrously slow since I
upgraded to SuSe 6.
Could be a coincidence but I suspect that I broke something.

pings to Irish IP addresses take 100's of ms, even seconds..

I'd like to eliminate the possibility that it is a modem-related prob -
ie have I told the modem to be 300 baud :-)?

Any tips? I can use minicom to dial ISP and all seems OK.
Could there be a mismatch between modem speed & serial port?

Thanks,

John
