They will run, most of the time. Some KDE apps *require* the KDE
filemanager to be running, before they are started. Some GNOME apps (mainly
applets) require the GNOME panel to be running. So, if you want to run
both, have the panel and the KDE filemanager running, all the time. You
should run into less problems, and use up an extra 20MB of RAM.
