If I leave autodetection on both the card and our Cisco switch,
mine have a habit of agreeing on 10M half-duplex.

ISTR there is a dos-based configuration tool that comes with 3Com
cards, but I haven't used it for some time - I prefer to leave them
on autosense and force 100M/full-duplex on the switch.
