alan cox once commented that no kernel patches came out of ireland
because we were all too busy drinking. sadly i'm mailing this out
on a friday night.
if you look at http://suberic.net/~kevin/linuxbugs.txt there's a
listing of 166 possible bugs in linux 2.2.11. essentially 166
places where routines that return new memory don't check
for NULLs. i'm going to download 2.2.11 tomorrow and work my
way through the list. i'm wondering if anyone would be game to
join in - particularly since i don't have a machine to test on
(liam? please? :) ).
you can ring me at 493.7975 or 087.680.4153, or email me here.
if you do want to go through them get in touch so we don't duplicate
effort. hopefully by monday we can have so many patches in the kernel
that we can get alan to publically retract his comment! :)
btw i didn't generate this list. i just haraunged a guy on /. who
commented he'd seen places where NULLs went unchecked - i asked him
to post the list so he did.
