No they're not hard to make. Pretty much one logic chip and a
diode/resistor here and there. The spec is on Aminet somewhere. The
trouble is it doesn't scan convert and it's not always desirable or
possible to make the Amiga output VGA scan rates. When it comes to
Bomberman it's totally useless for example. Very few current VGA class
monitors will do the Amiga's standard TV sync rates but they do exist if
you look hard enough.
