Parallel port my friend. The wiring specs are in
/usr/src/linux/Documentation/joystick-parport.txt
Most simple sticks need only a pin-to-pin wiring. Some need a bit more
power and you might need to throw in a few diodes and extra wires for
them. I've built a pin-to-pin type interface for a Megadrive pad myself.
Options are also available for Playstation (there's a better way than
the one in the current kernel), Saturn, NES, SNES, and N64 (very messy
that one).
